Cute or Creepy? Irregular Choice Chuckles Shoes

It's no secret that I'm an ardent fan of Irregular Choice's weird and wonderful footwear. Slightly less well-known is the fact that I adore gnomes. Yup. I long for a garden so that I can fill it with tacky sculptures of jolly wee men, there to supervise my weeding and digging and listen to my rants about the neighbours' children/dog/all-night parties.

So, it figures that I am COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY in love with these Chuckles shoes, doesn't it? Look how cheery the gnome is! He's saving you from falling over and breaking your neck! Hero.

However. I know some people hate gnomes (WHATISWRONGWITHYOU?) and there are even some who are gnomophobic (real thing). I concede, therefore, that these shoes aren't going to meet with universal approval, so I offer them up today for a round of Cute or Creepy. But first, let's just sit back and watch Chuckles at work.

From the front, the shoes are all lovehearts and polka dots and patent leather. There's no hint of the shenanigans going on behind. I think that makes me love them all the more.

LOOK AT HIM!

Chuckles is available in black or maroon, but you'll need to be quick if you want a pair - sizes are selling out fast. They're £99 and you'll find them online or in one of Irregular Choice's stores in Brighton, London, Leicester or Manchester.

What sayest thou? Are you a friend or a foe of Chuckles the gnome? Is he unbearably cute, or unbelievably creepy?

  1. Hum, well I think the little gnome fella is very cute indeed. But I wish the rest of the shoe looked slightly different - in my head it's covered with mini-mushrooms, and other garden folk (possibly too much?).

    1. Actually, just the pattern that's on the sole of the shoe repeated all over the shoe...

    2. Mini-mushrooms would be better, and I'd probably lose the hearts - HOWEVER, part of me really loves that the front view gives no hint of Mr Gnome lurking behind.

  2. On screen this is the most horrifyingly awful thing I'd ever seen. If I saw it in the flesh on someone wearing a cool outfit, I'd probably think it was pretty cool too. PROBABLY.

  3. Have you seen the bunny heels ones? I'm slightly more in to them than these, but someone on pinterest made T-Rex heels and they're even better! http://www.instructables.com/id/dinosaur-heels/

  4. No, this just looks wrong to me I'm afraid. And can you imagine trying to get them re-heeled?

    1. This is a very good point. I hadn't thought of that. Maybe Irregular Choice offer a free regnoming service?

  5. I enjoy a gnome as much as the next person but on a shoe? All different kinds of wrong.

  6. I just can't stand gnomes, but I love the rest of the shoes. I have the bunny ones, which are great, so I'm imagining these will be all comfortable and all.

    1. So, are the bunny ones easy to walk in? Do they just feel like a regular wedge? I'm envious of you owning them!

  8. I've been in love with irregular choice since I found the most amazing pair for my wedding shoes (purple and gold Abigails party fyi). The more I look at these the more I want. Santa - if you're listening, pretty please!
