Bread baking is the perfect excuse to stay in when it's cold and raining. You can't possibly get off the sofa and go outside, you have to check your bread dough is rising. You should definitely just stay where you are and watch an entire series of Made in Chelsea while you're supervising. Then you get the fun of eating really delicious carbs smothered in butter.
Here are our top ten bread recipes, so you're armed with ten brilliant excuses to stay in and bake.
Grape focaccia. Bread and olive oil will always be the best of friends. That's why focaccia is so tasty.
Tiger Bread. Everyone loves tiger bread. Carbs that grrrrr are obviously the best. (No tigers were harmed in the making of this bread.)
Six seed star bread. With all of these seeds, this probably has loads of vitamins in it. It's practically fruit and vegetables.
Full English breakfast loaf. Turn your Sunday breakfast up to eleven and make this English breakfast loaf to have with your English breakfast. (Sorry about your cholesterol, have an apple.)
Soda bread. And we have a gluten free soda bread as well. It's one of the easiest breads to make. Which is handy, because it won't last very long.
Stuffed paratha. Bread stuffed with potatoes? YES.
Banana bread. Not all bread has to be savoury y'know. Don't forget about our brioche and rum pudding. That's all sorts of bready goodness.
No knead Nutella bread. This is the sweet dough recipe to end all other sweet doughs.
Bara Brith. Slice thickly, spread on huge amounts of butter and serve with a cup of tea.
Pancetta cornbread. This is one of our favourite recipes, and you can always substitute the pancetta for cheese or sun-dried tomatoes for a vegetarian version.
