Sluttery Travels: Forter Castle, Scotland

Something a little different for Sluttery Travels this week. Why so? Well unless your bank account is looking very healthy indeed, you're going to need to get some friends together for this property. Forter Castle in Scotland can be exclusively yours for a week, and while it's not cheap it sleeps 12. But just look at it! It's not like you're going to have trouble getting people to come with you.

Built in 1560, this house was built to 'protect the entrance to the Balloch Pass to Glenshee and the important Moneca Pass to Braemar and the North'. So very handy indeed. But given its position in the hills, it was actually a very effective defense.

These days, instead of defending Scotland, it's self-catering accommodation. And the very fancy kind. You can hire your own personal chef for the week if you like (yes, I'd like that very much).

There is a telly, but it only plays DVDs, and there's a collection of classic movies to watch snuggled up on the sofa? Or pop up to one of the whisky distilleries up for the road for a tasting.

Now, don't balk at the price. It's £4250 for a week. But, divide that between 12 of your very favourite people and it's just just £350 each. Suddenly that seems very reasonable. Just enough room for a bunch of Domestic Sluts. We've almost certainly deserved a stay in our own castle.
