Design Porn: Acapulco chair

The Acapulco chair has to be my all time favourite chair. That might sound a bit odd but the Acapulco is a 1950s design classic, named after the A List's favoured List holiday resort of the period. Any chair that makes me think of lounging around in the heat, wearing a fabulous retro swimsuit and hanging out with the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra while supping on a Gimlet, is one top chair. To misquote the Four Tops, I'm going loco over the Acapulco.

The chair is still handmade in Mexico and is constructed from plastic cord with a steel frame making it suitable for outside use. I think it would also look pretty fabulous stacked high with colourfully patterned cushions. And look at these sunshine colours - guaranteed to raise a smile on a grey British day:

The words '50s' and 'design classic' will no doubt be setting alarm bells off in the heads of seasoned furniture shoppers. Yep, it's pricier than most non-A List mortals can afford. At £380 from Nest, at least it's not as pricey as a flight to Mexico. Just keep thinking what a good time you're investing into.

And - to prove this is the best chair in the world - in an unbelievable slice of cuteness you can get also get a matching kids version. That's £147 for 66cm's worth of fun (the chair, not the kid).
