Dream Dress: Miss Selfridge Petites Lace Tutu Dress
Things have gone a bit Alice in Wonderland when your resident DS giantess is going "Cor! Look at that!" at frocks from the petite section.
But when this Miss Selfridge tutu dress (sizes 4-14) rocked up in the all dresses list, I had to have a look. And when I'd gawped at it, I thought our petite readers had to see it with their own eyes and go "Cor! Look at that!" too.
Back at our book launch, Ms Sian wore a fabulous ballerina-style dress with a low back, and that's what came to mind when I saw this one. I am a complete sucker for an A-line skirt at the best of times, and if it's got netting, so much the better. But a low back is a much underestimated thing of beauty. Your back is ace. EXPOSE THE HELL OUT OF IT.
Reviews (very good ones, mind) say that this dress comes in quite small, so you might want to try on a couple for good measure. It's £45 and it's very, very pretty.

Oh, this really IS a dream dress. I want it, even though I'm not sure when I'd get away with wearing it!
ReplyDeleteI don't wear that dress often enough. I might wear it tomorrow, just for the hell of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty. You, my dear, are bringing sexy back.
*hand up* Miss, is this work appropriate with a cardigan over it? I speak as someone wearing a sequinned jumper and pinstripe velvet trousers, mind. My sense of "work appropriate" is skewed.
ReplyDeleteNo, sadly. And if I think you'd be too dressy as I sit at my desk in a teal lace and pleated chiffon dress...
DeleteOh what a cracking idea! Given that I have worn a sequinned midi skirt to work with fuschia tights before, I am very much of your mind. I think yes. Perhaps a pale pastel or a grey, or just sod it and wear it with a bright one and some green tights. YUM!
Delete@Laura Totally follow Vali's lead. She knows.
@Sian Do it! So gorgeous - I clicked on the link in the old piece to see if it was still around, but unsurprisingly it ain't.
It's not often I think something is too dressy for work, but I couldn't go to a meeting in this. It's too puffy.
DeleteI really want to though.
Gorgeous! I actually bought a similar (yet more Christmas/NYE-y) in Debenhams' sale, and annoyingly the swishy net sksirt is cut just slightly above the waist (and I am a short-waisted bugger!) So it doesn't quite possess the usual super-flattering qualities of the A-line. Hopefully this one is properly waisted!
ReplyDeleteIt's Domestic Sluttery, everything is properly wasted! Oh...oh wait...
