Sluttishly Soppy: We First Met Here

Where did you first meet your best beloved? Was it wonderful? I bet it was.

Even for those of us that found love whilst somewhat intoxicated - we may be a little sketchy on the details, but it's still special. It doesn't have to be all running through the rain/getting off a plane/drinking fine Champagne for it to mean something.

Take The Boy and I, for instance. The location of our first kiss is nothing to be proud of - in the queue for the skankiest club in town whilst on a very messy work night, OH THE ROMANCE - but it's the little details that matter. Like the fact I remember it was bitterly cold and snowing, and he'd given me his coat to wear.

This is why I'm so soppy about gifts like the We First Met Here postcode puzzle I've just found. I don't even like puzzles, but if someone bought me this I'd be totally smitten.

You just have to enter the postcode of where you met, and they'll make a jigsaw with the location either in aerial photography or ordnance survey landranger mapping. The exact location of your meeting on the map is encased in a special heart-shaped piece of puzzle. How sickeningly lovely.

If you're as soppy as me you can get one from Firebox for £29.99.

If you like your whimsy with a great big portion of WINE then the nice Firebox folks cater for that too: they also do We First Met Here maps as a personalised label on a bottle of wine, Prosecco or Champagne. Okay, so the wine itself is definitely not worth the £29.99 and up price tag, but it would still be a bloody smashing addition to my wine rack.

Are you as daft as me? What would your ideal Valentine's gift be?

  1. I once gave my boyfriend a packet of moist toilet tissue (gak!) for Valentine's day because the brandname was the same as my name. I don't think it was his idea of ideal in. any. way.

    1. Hahaha! That is my kind of present. It's his fault for not being called something like Veuve Cliquot instead.

    2. You make a valid point.

I'd much rather someone bought me the bottle of wine we drank on a date, rather than one of those bottles, though. That would be really sweet.

  3. One particularly well-informed boyfriend was away for valentine's day so got me not flowers, not a card, but a pack of custard creams, which i ate with pals while making cocktails.

  4. I think I'll buy a £5 bottle of wine and print off a google map and stick in on said bottle. I'm all heart ;-)

    1. Nikivara I was just thinking that exact same thing! There's good milage in this one. I could stick a google map on all sorts of things. Googlemap chocolate? Googlemap homemade card? Googlemap giftbox with anything you like in it... bet that loo roll would have been better received if it was in a googlemap gift box!
