Sluttery Travels: Bolton Percy Gatehouse, Yorkshire
This 15th Century gatehouse is gorgeous. Just absolutely beautiful. Gatehouses were built as defensive structures in the middle ages, and many (like the Bolton Percy Gatehouse) were turned into houses.
The large gatehouse now sleeps two (look at how much space you get!) and you get all the mod-cons - there's TV and a DVD player so you can occupy yourself if it's raining. You get a gorgeous kitchen too, but there's also a pub next door if you don't fancy cooking.
And the oak beams and staircase are absolutely to die for. All of the original features are stunning and some time was spent in the 70s restoring it to its former glory.
I want to snuggle up in that bed immediately.
How much for this little piece of history? You're looking at around £700 for a week in the summer, and the price drops to £130 a night in the winter through the Vivat Trust. You get a welcome food hamper too. I get the feeling that you wouldn't actually want to leave.

Think I'd prefer to stay here during Winter actually. It's so cosy looking. Imagine throwing off your scarves and tapping the snow from your boots before snuggling up under the beams with a hot chocolate.
